Remove Background

You can remove the background from a photo. With few marks you can simply and quickly remove some areas of the photo.

Steps

To remove the background of a photo

  1. Open a photo in the RGB color space.
  2. In the Layer tab of the window, double click on the 'Background' image to change it to a layer.
    If the Layer window does not appear, click Window > Options.
  3. Click Edit > Remove Background.
  4. In the Remove Background window, click Foreground Mark under Tools.
  5. Draw lines to specify areas where you want to preserve from the photo.
    The colors included in the lines or marks by Foreground Mark will be kept.
  6. Click Background Mark under Tools.
  7. Draw lines to specify areas where you want to remove from the photo.
  8. Clear the Show Marks check box and click the Result Mode check box under View Mode to preview the result.
  9. Click Apply.
    The Remove Background window closes.

Restrictions

There are some restrictions to remove the background of a photo. See details in the following table.

Category Description
Color Space Photos in the RGB color space are only supported.
Layer Background removal is available on only the image layer. Other types of layers such as shape, text, and fill are not allowed. It is not available on the following layers.
  • background layer
  • hidden layer
  • zero-size layer
  • layer with locked transparent pixels or image pixels
  • layer grouped with a hidden layer
  • multiple layers in selection
