With Foxit PDF Reader, you can print a whole PDF file, a selected portion of a page, or specifed sections in a document. Foxit PDF Reader also allows you to print multiple PDF files at a time. Before printing, you need to make sure that you have installed the printer successfully on your device.
Print a PDF File
- Choose any of the methods below:
- Click the Print icon
- choose File > Print.
- Press the shortcut key Command + P.
- Click the Print icon
- Specify the printing options in the Print dialog box, and click Print.
Print Tabs
Foxit PDF Reader allows users to print one or more tabs that are currently opened in the application. Steps are as follows:
- Right-click the tab, and choose Print Current Tab to print the current PDF file, or choose Print All Tabs to print all the opened PDF files.
- Specify the printing options in the Print dialog box, and click Print.
Print a Portion of a Page
- Select the Snapshot command by choosing Home > Snapshot.
- Drag around the area you want to print.
- A message will pop up, informing you that the selected area has been copied to the clipboard. If you do not want to see the prompt message the next time you use the Snapshot tool, please check the Don’t show again option. Then click OK to continue.
- Right-click on the selected area, and choose Print.
- Specify the printing options in the Print dialog box, and click Print.
Print Pages from a Bookmark
- In the Bookmarks panel, select a bookmark you want to print.
- Right-click the selected bookmark, and choose Print Page(s) or Print Section(s) from the context menu.
- Print Page(s): Only print the pages where the selected bookmark (including child bookmarks) is.
- Print Section(s): Print all the pages in the bookmarked sections (including child bookmarks).
- Specify the printing options in the Print dialog box, and click Print.
About the Print Dialog Box
- Printer: Select your printer from the list of installed printers. You can click Properties to specify your printer settings. For more information, please refer to the Mac Help about Print Dialog.
- Copies: Specify the copies you want to print.
- Collate: Assemble the printouts in a proper numerical or logical order when printing several copies. This option will be disabled when printing just one copy.
- Print as grayscale: Convert color images in the file to shades of gray.
- Print as image: Print pages as bitmap images. If normal printing doesn’t work or doesn’t produce well, check this option.
- Bleed Marks: Place a mark at each of the four corners of the bleed box to indicate the PDF bleed box boundaries.
- Print Range: Specify the page range you want to print.
- Current View: Print the visible page area in the current view. This option is not available if your current view contains more than one page. If you have selected a portion of a page with the Snapshot tool, the Current View option will be dynamically replaced with the Selected Graphic option, which allows you to print the selected area.
- Current Page: Print the current page only.
- All Pages: Print all pages in the document.
- Pages: Input the page number to specify the page range you want to print.
Tip: If your PDF contains formatted page numbers, and the Use logical page numbers option is enabled in File tab (or Foxit PDF Reader in the menu bar) > Preferences > Page Display, you should enter the numbers that match the numbering on the pages rather than the physical page numbers. For instance, if you want to print the second page of your document which is numbered ii, you should enter ii to print the page. - Subset: Choose to print all pages, odd pages, or even pages within the specified range.
- Reverse pages: Print pages in reverse order.
- Scale: Set the scaling during printing.
- None: Print the pages without scaling.
- Fit to printer margins: Scale small pages up and large pages down to fit the paper.
- Reduce to printer margins: Reduce large pages to fit the paper.
- Custom scale: Resize the pages by the percentage you specify.
- Choose paper source by PDF page size: Automatically chooses paper source according to PDF page size.
- Tile Large Pages: Tile the pages that are larger than the selected paper size at a specified scale.
- Page Zoom: Scale the pages by the percentage you specify.
- Overlap: Set the amount that each tile overlaps the adjacent tiles (unit: inch).
- Cut Marks: Add cut marks to each page to help you trim the overlap.
- Labels: Add the name of the document and page number on each tile.
- Multiple Pages Per Sheet: Specify to print more than one page of a PDF on a single sheet of paper. You can also define how the pages are ordered, whether to print the crop box, and the printing margins.
- Booklet: Booklet printing enables you to print multiple pages on the same sheet of paper in correct order if the pages are folded. This requires the printer support to print on both sides.
- Binding: Set the binding direction, including Left and Right.
- Booklet subset: Choose Front or Back if you only want to print one side of each sheet of paper, choose Both to print PDFs in double-sided booklet format.
- Margins: Set the margins for booklet printing.
- Auto Rotate: Adjust the PDF document's orientation to match the orientation specified in the printer properties.
- Auto Center: Place the PDF pages in the center.
- Print on both sides of paper: To print double-sided pages, enable this option and choose the desired orientation. This option is available if your printer supports duplex printing.
- Print What:
- Document: Print the document contents and form fields, not including annotations.
- Document and markups: Print the document contents, form fields, and annotations. If you also need to print notes and popups associated with comments, please make sure that you check the Print notes and pop-ups option in Commenting Preferences.
- Document and stamps: Print all document contents, form fields, and stamps, not including other markups (like note comments).
- Form fields only: Print the interactive form fields only.
- Summarize Comments: Print the summarized comments to a separate and printable PDF file named “CommentsSummaryPrint.pdf”. See also “Summarize Comments”.
- Orientation: Selects a page orientation to print the document in. If Auto portrait/landscape is selected, the printer will automatically adjust the page orientation based on the page size and the paper size. For example, with the page height larger than the page width, the printer will print the page in portrait orientation, and vice versa. “Auto portrait/landscape” option is only available when you choose Scale printing mode. The Choose paper source by PDF page size option in Page Handling overrides the Auto portrait/landscape option here.
- Simulate Overprinting: Simulate the blending and overprinting of colors in the color-separated output.
Tip: If you specify different settings for the same print option in Foxit PDF Reader Print dialog and the system Print dialog, your latest setting will be applied during printing.
