Foxit PDF Editor supports the most popular cloud services to help you access, edit, and save files in cloud services directly from within the application.
Add a Cloud Service
Add a Third-party Cloud Service
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- Tap Add a Place in the Files list.
- Select the cloud service from the list to add a third-party cloud service (like Box, Google Drive, and OneDrive, etc.).
- Input your account and password to sign in.
Add Foxit Document Management System (DMS) (Available in Certain Regions)
Foxit Document Management System (DMS) is a centralized document management system within Foxit’s ecosystem, which allows you to access, organize, share, and collaborate on PDF files across devices using Foxit PDF Editor (for Mobile, Cloud, Windows, or Mac). Foxit offers 1GB of storage space for free for Foxit DMS. You can subscribe to Foxit PDF Editor to get more space. Foxit PDF Editor uses AWS S3 as its storage solution for the uploaded files, ensuring the protection of user data during storage, transit, backup, and retention. For more information on the Foxit DMS’ security, please refer to Foxit DMS Security White Paper on the Foxit website.
You need to sign in to Foxit Account to use Foxit DMS. Steps are as follows:
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- Tap Foxit DMS (or Cloud Document in certain regions) in the Files list.
- Sign in to Foxit Account.
If you haven’t got a Foxit Account, create it in the Foxit Account window. For more information, please refer to “Create a Foxit Account”.
- Access and manage your files on Foxit DMS with the following tabs:
- My Files: View and manage all the files you have uploaded to Foxit DMS. On the “My Files” page, you can also upload local files to Foxit DMS and create new folders to organize and categorize them. The files and folders on this page are synchronized with Foxit DMS, allowing you to access and manage them seamlessly across Foxit products once you log into the same Foxit Account.
- Shared Files: Find and manage files that others have shared with you through the Foxit DMS website.
Tip: Foxit DMS, upgraded from Foxit Cloud Documents, is currently available only in certain regions. Users in regions where Foxit DMS is not yet available can continue using Foxit Cloud Documents.
Open a File from Cloud Service
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- In the Files list, tap the cloud account to connect to the cloud service.
- (Optional) Tap
(on tablets) or <Sort by> (e.g., Time) group (on phones) to sort files by time, file name, or file size. - (Optional) Tap
to search for files stored in the cloud service by file name.
Tip: The search function is currently available in Google Drive and OneDrive.
- Tap the file that you want to open.
Download a File or Folder from Cloud Service
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- In the Files list, tap the cloud account to connect to the cloud service.
- Tap
. - Select the folder (iOS only) or file, and tap
.
Upload a File to Cloud Service
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- In the Files list, tap the cloud account to connect to the cloud service.
- Tap
. - Select the file, and tap Done.
Delete a File or Folder in Cloud Service
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- In the Files list, tap the cloud account to connect to the cloud service.
- Do one of the following:
- Tap
beside the file or folder that you want to delete, and choose Delete. - Tap
, select the file or folder that you want to delete, and tap
.
- Tap
Rename a File or Folder in Cloud Service
You can rename files or folders in cloud services (except for iCloud Drive) from within Foxit PDF Editor if the permission allows.
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- In the Files list, tap the cloud account to connect to the cloud service.
- Tap
beside the file or folder that you want to rename, and choose Rename. - In the pop-up window, input the new name, and tap OK.
View the Task List
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- In the Files list, tap the cloud account to connect to the cloud service.
- Tap
. - In the task list, you can find all the uploaded or downloaded files. If you want to remove a task from the list, tap
.
Synchronize Files
You can synchronize the files and folders in cloud services (including Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, and Foxit DMS) and save them in local folders for quick and easy access in the future.
To synchronize a single folder in the cloud service (including Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, and Foxit DMS):
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- In the Files list, tap the cloud account to connect to the cloud service.
- Tap
beside the folder that you want to synchronize, and choose Sync Now.
(Tip: The “Sync Now” option is only available when you haven’t synchronized the entire cloud service account to the local folder of your mobile device. When the entire cloud service account has been synchronized to your mobile device, you can tap Sync Now in the Synced Folder to synchronize and update the specific file or folder. For more information, please refer to “Manage synchronized cloud service directories”.)
- A message will pop up to inform you where the folder is saved. Tap OK in the prompt message to open the folder and check the progress. You can also tap Files > On This <device> (e.g., On This iPad) > Synced Folders to find the synced folder afterwards.
To synchronize all the files and folders in a cloud service:
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- In the Files list, tap the cloud account to connect to the cloud service.
- Tap
on the toolbar at the top. - A message will pop up to inform you where the files are saved. Tap OK in the prompt message to open the folder and check the progress. You can also tap Files > On This <device> (e.g., On This iPad) > Synced Folders to find the synced files and folders afterwards.
- When the synchronization completes, the full copy of the files and folders will be available in the Synced Folders in a directory named after your cloud service account. In the Synced Folders, the following options are available for you to view and manage the synced cloud service directories:

on the top right corner to switch the view mode of the cloud service directories between the List View and Thumbnail View. - Tap
on the top right corner to search for files in the synced cloud service directories by tag name (for tagged files only) or file name. - Tap
on the top right corner (on tablets) or <Sort By> (e.g. Name) item (on phones) to sort the cloud service directories by name, time, or size. - Tap
beside a cloud service directory, and choose the following options to manage the synced cloud service directory:
- To move the synced cloud service directory to another folder, tap Copy. Then select the folder that you want to move to, and tap Done.
- To synchronize the files manually, tap Sync Now. When the files are being synchronized, you can tap Stop Sync to stop the synchronization.
- To delete the synced cloud service directory, tap Delete, and confirm your operation.
- Foxit PDF Editor enables the automatic synchronization by default so that the files can be synchronized automatically between the online cloud services and the local synced folders every four minutes when the Internet connection is available. When you are offline, the files will also be synchronized automatically when you reconnect to the Internet. If you want to disable the automatic synchronization, slide the Turn on Auto-Sync toggle to off.
Tip: To make the automatic synchronization effective, please make sure that you have enabled the feature in Settings > AUTOMATIC SYNC. In the “Automatic SYNC” settings, you can also select what type of network connection to use for the file synchronization.

Share a PDF File for Real-time Collaboration (Foxit DMS Only)
In Foxit DMS (or Cloud Documents in certain regions), you can share a PDF file by email or link to enable multiple users to share their comments and feedback on the same document in real time.
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- Tap Foxit DMS > My Files. Or tap Cloud Documents in certain regions.
- Sign in to your Foxit Account.
- Tap
beside the PDF file that you want to share for real-time collaboration, and choose Share for Collaboration > Shared with Email or Get a Link. For more information, please refer to “Share a PDF File via Link/Email and Collaborate in Real Time”. - For a PDF file that has been shared for real-time collaboration, you can tap
beside the PDF file, and choose Copy Shared Link to share it with more participants.
