Foxit PDF Editor provides convenient ways to help you share and print files.
Share a File with Sharing Platform
- On the document pane, tap
(iOS) or
(Android) on the toolbar at the top (on tablets) or at the bottom (on phones).
- Choose a sharing platform, and follow the onscreen instructions to share the file.
Tip: Before sharing the file via email, you need to configure the email on your device first.
Share a Screenshot
- On the document pane, tap
on the toolbar at the top.
- Tap Screen Capture.
- Drag over the area that you want to take a screenshot of.
- For iOS users, choose the sharing platform, and follow the instructions on the screen to complete sharing. For Android users, tap
to save the image on your device.
Share PDF Files via Link/Email and Collaborate in Real-time
You can easily share a PDF document via Link/Email with others, make or reply to comments on the shared document, and manage a document review in real-time. Recipients can open the shared document and make comments with Foxit PDF Editor, Foxit PDF Reader, or Foxit PDF Editor Cloud in a web browser. You can also easily manage and track files shared by yourself and others. Note: An Internet connection and Foxit account signed-in are required to use this collaboration feature.
Share a PDF File for Collaboration (Subscription Required)
- Make sure you have logged in to your Foxit Account. See also “Sign in to Foxit Account” for more information.
- Open the PDF file that you want to share for collaboration, and tap
on the toolbar at the top.
- Choose one of the options:
- Share with Email: Share the PDF file and send the review invitation to participants by email.
- Get a Link: Generate a link for the shared document, which can be shared with others by any sharing platforms.
- In the Share with Email or Get a Link window, do the following:
- Tap Add Deadline to specify the deadline for the collaborative review. After the deadline, the collaboration will be ended, and users cannot open your document any longer. If you do not specify the deadline, the document will be valid for collaboration until you unshared it.
- Switch the Comment toggle to specify the permissions. If you want to share the document for viewing only, slide the Comment toggle to off.
- If you choose to share the document by email, input the participant’s email address in the Enter Email Address box, and press the “return” key on your keyboard to add the participant. All the participants you have added will be listed at the bottom of the window. You can switch the Comment toggle next to the participant’s email address to change the permission for the specific participant, or tap
to remove a participant you have added.
- Tap Send to send the email, or tap Create Link to generate the link for the document.
- If you choose to share the document by email, Foxit will send the review invitation to the participants by email. If you choose to share the document by link, copy and share the link with others based on the onscreen instructions.
Join a Collaborative Review
If you are the participant designated by the review initiator, you will find the shared PDF file in the Shared list in the Home view after logging in to your Foxit Account. You can add comments to share your ideas and view others’ feedback in real time from within the application.
- Make sure you have logged in to your Foxit Account. See also “Sign in to Foxit Account” for more information.
- Tap Home on the main interface, and tap the Shared tab.
- Tap the PDF file in the Shared list to open it with Foxit PDF Editor.
- Use the Comment and Drawing tools to add comments in the PDF file. For more information, please refer to “Comment”.
- All the comments added to the shared document are listed in the Comments pane. Open the Comments pane, and do the following to interact with other review participants:
- To jump to the page where the comment is located, tap the comment on the Comments pane.
- Tap
beside a comment, and choose Reply to add your reply message to the comment.
- Tap
beside a comment, and choose Set status to indicate your review opinion (acceptance, rejection, etc.) to the comment.
- (Optional) You can also check the file information, user activities, and notifications related to the shared PDF file with the following steps:
- To check the file information, tap
on the toolbar at the top. Then a small panel opens, showing the file name and time the file is shared. In the small panel, you can also find the options to check the user activities, copy the shared link to share with more participants, or exit the collaborative review.
- To check the user activities, tap the User Avatar icon (like
) on the toolbar at the top (on tablets) or on the toolbar at the bottom (on phones). (Tip: The number shown before the User Avatar icon indicates the number of people involved in the collaboration.)
- To check the notification, tap
on the toolbar at the top.
- To check the file information, tap
Tip: You can also join a collaborative review with Foxit PDF Editor Cloud using the browser on your mobile device. Tap Open in Foxit PDF Editor in the review invitation email or open the link you have received in your browser, the shared PDF file will be opened in Foxit PDF Editor Cloud. Then you can view the shared PDF file without logging in, or add comments after signing in to your Foxit Account.
Exit a Collaborative Review
You can exit the collaboration if you have completed your review and no longer need to access the document. After exiting the collaboration, you will no longer receive the notifications about the activities and status changes for the shared document, and the shared document will be removed from your Shared list.
To exit a collaborative review, do one of the following:
- On the main interface, tap the Home > Shared tab. Tap
beside the shared PDF file that you want to exit the review, and choose Remove Me.
- Open the shared PDF file in Foxit PDF Editor, tap
on the toolbar at the top, and choose Remove Me.
Track and Manage the Shared PDFs
All the shared PDF files are listed in the Shared tab in the Home view. To check and manage the shared PDF files, follow the steps below.
- Make sure you have logged in to your Foxit Account. See also “Sign in to Foxit Account” for more information.
- Tap Home on the main interface.
- Tap the Shared tab. An Avatar icon is displayed for a PDF file that has been shared. The
icon indicates that the PDF file is shared by you, while the
icon indicates that the PDF file is shared by others and you are the review participant designated by the review initiator. You can tap
on the top of the Shared list to filter the PDF files shared by you or others.
- Tap
beside a shared PDF file, a small panel appears that shows the file information and provides the following options for you to manage the shared PDF files.
- Add Deadline (available for review initiators only): If you are the review initiator, you can tap Add Deadline to specify the deadline for the shared document. If you have already specified the deadline for the document when sharing the PDF file, the deadline you have specified will be displayed instead. You can tap the deadline (shown as “Due by <Date and Time>”) to modify the deadline, or tap
to remove the deadline.
- Activity: Check the activities related to the shared PDF file.
- Share with Email (available for review initiators only): Continue to share the PDF file by email with more participants.
- Copy Shared Link: Copy the link for the shared PDF file and share it with others.
- Stop Sharing (available for review initiators only): Unshare the PDF file. The PDF file that has been unshared successfully will be removed from the Shared list and cannot be accessed by users any longer.
- Remove Me (available for review participants only): The review participants can tap this option to exit the collaboration. When you exit the collaboration, the PDF file will be removed from your Shared list.
- Add Deadline (available for review initiators only): If you are the review initiator, you can tap Add Deadline to specify the deadline for the shared document. If you have already specified the deadline for the document when sharing the PDF file, the deadline you have specified will be displayed instead. You can tap the deadline (shown as “Due by <Date and Time>”) to modify the deadline, or tap
Print a File
- On the document pane, tap
on the toolbar at the top.
- Tap Print.
- (Android only) The annotations in the PDF file will be not be printed by default. To print the annotations along with the PDF file, slide the Annotations toggle to on in the Print Settings window, and tap Done to continue.
- Specify the printer and other options as desired.
- Tap Print (iOS) or
(Android).
Tip: On Android devices, you can select the Save as PDF option from the printer list to save the PDF file as a copy on your device.
