You can open a file from the following locations:
Open a File from the Local Disks
- Open Foxit PDF Editor.
- Choose Home or Files > On This <device> (e.g., On This iPad) on the main interface.
- In the file list, tap the file that you want to open.
If you want to upload files and save them in Foxit PDF Editor, follow the steps below:
From Desktop iTunes (iOS Only)
If you are using an iOS device, follow Apple’s instructions to upload files from your computer to your mobile device.
From Wi-Fi Transfer
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- Tap PC in the Files list.
- Tap Enable file transferring.
- (iOS only) Tap
on the upper-right corner of the menu to set a password if you need to restrict network access to your mobile device.
- Open a web browser from your computer, and input the IP address of your mobile device.
- Input the username and password if you have set a password for network access.
- Click Browse to select the files.
- Click Upload to upload the selected files to your mobile device.
Open a Recently Viewed File
- Tap Home on the main interface if you are not in the Home view.
- Tap the file that you want to open from the Recent list.
Tip: The maximum number of files displayed in the Recent list is set to be 50. The earliest file record will be deleted when it reaches the limit. You can remove file records from the Recent list by one of the methods below:
- To remove a file record from the Recent list, tap
beside the file and choose Delete Record.
- To remove multiple file records from the Recent list, tap
at the top of the Recent list, and tap Select. Then select the file records that you want to remove in the Select File window, and tap
.
Open a File from the Cloud Services
- Open Foxit PDF Editor.
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- If you have authorized the cloud service from within Foxit PDF Editor before, tap on the cloud account to connect to the cloud service. Otherwise, follow the steps below to add the cloud service first:
- Tap Add a Place in the Files list.
- Choose the cloud service from the list, and sign in.
- Tap the file that you want to open in the cloud service list.
Open a File from SharePoint (iOS Only)
Subscribers with iOS devices can access files from SharePoint with the following steps:
- Open Foxit PDF Editor.
- Tap Files on the main interface.
- Tap Add a Place in the Files list, and choose SharePoint.
- Choose one of the following options, and sign in to SharePoint based on the onscreen instructions.
- SharePoint Online: Log in to SharePoint with your Azure account. When you choose this option, you can also input a name in the Display Name box to display the SharePoint server in Foxit PDF Editor with the name you have specified.
- SharePoint Server: Log in to SharePoint using the server URL, username, and password.
- Navigate and find the document in the SharePoint server, and then tap the file that you want to open.
Open a File Attachment in Email (iOS Only)
- Open the email containing the PDF, Microsoft Office, TXT, or image attachment.
- Long press the file that you want to open.
- Tap Share > Foxit PDF Editor.
Open a PDF File in Safari or Browsers (iOS Only)
- Tap
on the toolbar.
- Choose Foxit PDF Editor.
Tip: Foxit PDF Editor only allows you to read, manage, print, and share Microsoft Office, TXT,and image files. If you could not open the Microsoft Office, TXT, or image file via the Open-in function in email or browser, please follow the steps in “Upload files” to upload the files to Foxit PDF Editor first.
